Following the dance call, auditionees may be asked to stay for the vocal call.
11am Vocal Call
Please prepare one short musical theatre song (sheet music please, no backing tracks).
Not all ensemble are required to be strong singers.
Following the singing call, auditionees may be asked to stay for the acting call.
12.30pm Dwarf Call
Auditioneers will be asked to learn a short script, and take part in an acting / puppeteering workshop.
Frequently Asked Questions...
Do I need to prepare or bring anything?
You don’t need to prepare anything for the dance call, you’ll be taught a routine on the day. Please wear comfortable dance clothing, and wear Jazz Shoes, Trainers, or similar. Please also make sure you bring a drink with you into the audition. If you are recalled to the Singing round, please have prepared a short musical theatre song, (sheet music, no backing tracks), that shows off your voice. Not all those cast need to be strong singers. If you are recalled to the Acting round, a short script will be available online from September, to download and familiarise yourself with. The acting round will be workshop based, working with the Dwarf puppets.
Can I be considered if I can’t attend the audition?
No, sadly we can’t consider dancers for any category who are unable to attend the audition on the day.
When will I need to attend rehearsals?
You can download the rehearsal schedule from August to check you are available. You will need to be able to commit to the full rehearsal period in order to be considered.
Who can auditon for the male ensemble?
All performers aged 17yrs and over can auditon. We are looking for seven strong dancers, some with good vocals, and all able to animate the dwarf puppets. The ensemble are paid expenses only, of £300 per playing week only. Rehearsals commence in late October. Please check the full rehearsal schedule, to make sure you can commit to the full rehearsal period in order to be considered.
